Beth Barrett, M.S., CCC-SLP

Owner, Speech-Language Pathologist

About ten years ago, I had the opportunity to provide therapy for several private schools in Wichita, which led to some pivotal moments for me. I started noticing the correlation between speech sound disorders and literacy skills and became compelled to take relevant continuing education courses and train in the Orton-Gillingham approach for dyslexia. I knew my experience and education could make a difference with literacy disorders, which are really just language disorders in written form. Soon after, I came across Scarborough’s reading rope, and I was hooked… my family would even say I became a little nerdy about helping children put those speech, language, and literacy pieces together! Helping children figure out how to think through their problems, speak clearly, understand others, express themselves, and read to comprehend truly fills my bucket--along with all the other little perks, like their honesty, big belly laughs, art work, and gifts of kindness.

Testimonials

"Beth is truly the best! It is obvious that her passion is helping children with speech sound disorders."

Beth is truly the best! It is obvious that her passion is helping children with speech sound disorders. Our daughter has made so much progress. After working with Beth for one year, she improved two years developmentally. Beth has always treated her with such care. Our daughter absolutely loves going to therapy. Beth challenges her yet manages to keep learning fun. She changes her approach to keep it interesting and our daughter stays engaged with therapy. The homework compliments what she’s focusing on and is enjoyable to do. Beth has taught our daughter that it is ok to be different and she has also given her strategies to improve her fluency when she is with her peers or meeting new people. We’ve progressed into literacy and she is now learning to decode words and is becoming a stronger reader. Beth is also very flexible and easy to work with. We have had experiences with other speech therapists and again Beth is truly the best!
