Hi, I'm Beth Barrett, M.S., CCC-SLP
Owner, Speech-Language Pathologist
I am a speech therapist with over three decades of experience working with adults and children in many different settings. I am originally from West Virginia, where the culture of working hard and being kind to others runs deep and is the foundation on which I live my personal and professional life. I earned my bachelor's and master's degrees in speech pathology from West Virginia University, home of the Mountaineers (you will often see me in my WVU spirit gear!).
Today I run a private practice in Wichita focused on advancing the speech, language, and literacy skills of the children in our community. Many years of experience as a therapist and mother have made one thing fundamentally clear: there is no one-size-fits-all solution. What works for one child may not work for another, so it is essential to find a professional who has a background in different methods and invests in looking at the whole child to truly understand what is going on. As you search for the right therapist, here are some things you should know about working with me:
-
Building a trusting relationship with my clients is important to me. I love knowing what is happening in and outside of school; it helps me to help them.
-
I understand hard work is built upon a foundation of self-confidence, intrinsic motivation, and having someone believe in all that you can do.
-
Whenever possible I incorporate books into therapy. I also have a lot of books about everyday childhood problems that help children cope with life’s struggles and help them see they are not alone.
-
I love helping others and being a speech pathologist is my dream job. It just fits me.
-
Showing I care is easy, because I do.
-
Gratitude and positivity are at the core of everything I do.
-
I am a wife and a mom to three amazing children, well four if you count Jack, the best golden retriever ever.
-
Some of my favorite things are hiking in the mountains of Colorado, fresh flowers, cooking, photographs, children’s books, time with my family and close friends, date nights with my husband, wrapping packages, exercising, organizing about anything, giving gifts-especially for no reason, and a good nap with my favorite blanket.
